On Monday, the Women Empowerment hosts, Ramona Luthi and Martina Johnson, had the privilege of interviewing the talented Guyanese-British actress, Dr Letitia Wright on their programme on EdYou FM.
Letitia, who is famously known for her lead roles in Black Panther, Wakanda Forever, Silent Twins, and many more, was elated to be visiting her home country after leaving at the age of 8.
The 29-year-old opened up about her visit and explained that she was overwhelmed by the positive response she received, which she described as a mixture of memories and emotions. She is from Goed Intent, located on the West Bank of Demerara, and her visit has been a nostalgic journey for her.
The actress had words of encouragement for the listeners, sharing that everyone’s purpose is unique and that we should focus on what God has set for us, rather than material things. Letitia encouraged listeners to use their success to empower others and emphasized that one should never compare themselves to others as everyone has their own timing for success.
The hosts of the Women Empowerment programme showed their appreciation for Letitia’s humble and inspirational words by presenting her with a signed birthday card and a Women EmPOWERment T-Shirt. The card was signed by the programme’s hosts, sound engineer DJ Simeon Browne, and the Head of EdYou FM, Phillip Williams, in celebration of Letitia’s upcoming birthday in October 2023.
Letitia, who was in high spirits during the interview, carried on discussions with her Guyanese accent, bringing back memories of her younger days.
The Women Empowerment programme remains committed to educating, empowering, and elevating its listeners near and far. The interview with Letitia was a testament to this, as she inspired and motivated listeners to strive towards their goals and to empower others along the way.
Letitia’s words, which have since gone viral, were a source of encouragement for all and a reminder of the power of focusing on our purpose and using our success to make a difference in the world, and her visit will definitely be remembered for years to come.
One of the standout points she made was, “Money, cars, clothes, and fame (do) not equate to success. I know a lot of people think that and a lot of people think that the appearance of fancy clothes and jewellery – though I have it, I don’t flaunt it, (because) it’s not necessary (because) it doesn’t equate to success. I never want to put that message out. Please do not chase that (because) it’s meaningless. But please chase the purpose that God’s placed in your heart. Everything else will follow.”
