– T0 build teachers’ knowledge when grading and supervising HSB SBA
On Tuesday, December 06, 2022 the  Science Unit at the National Center for Educational Resource Development (NCERD) hosted a one-day workshop at the Queen’s College auditorium.
This workshop aimed to develop teachers’ competencies and skills when grading and supervising the Human and Social Biology (HSB) project-based School Based Assessment (SBA).
Over the years the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC)  redesigned several of its Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) syllabi to cater for the needs of the 21st century learner. The Human and Social Biology (HSB) syllabus were among those redesigned for examinations written during the May/June – 2022 period.
The new HSB syllabus now  has an additional component – the School Based Assessment ( SBA). That is an integral part of student assessment and will enable students to achieve the objectives of the syllabus. Additionally, the SBA will facilitate the development of long-term transferable skills of ethical conduct, collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, and communication.
In keeping with NCERD’s mandate to build the skills and knowledge of teachers, the Science Unit saw it fitting to host this workshop. NCERD continues to strive to deliver quality education.
