Waramadong, Region 7, Guyana — In a significant demonstration of its commitment to education and community support, the Ministry of Education’s radio station, EdYou FM, recently concluded a successful back-to-school drive in the Cuyuni-Mazaruni District. This initiative, which is part of EDYou FM’s broader mission to enhance educational access and resources across Guyana, saw 178 children from the Waramadong Primary School receiving essential school supplies.

The distribution exercise, led by EdYou FM’s Traffic Manager, Janet Juan-Moe, was a heartening event that not only provided students with much-needed resources for the upcoming school year but also introduced them to the educational programmes and tools available through EdYou FM. The team used this opportunity to raise awareness about the station’s offerings, including the newly launched learning app, EdPal, which is designed to support students’ learning experiences across the country.

The Waramadong initiative is part of a series of efforts by EdYou FM to reach out to communities, especially those within broadcast reach. Recently, over 30 students from Cashew Island in Region Six also benefitted from a similar exercise, underscoring the Ministry’s sustained commitment to equitable distribution.

EdYou FM’s back-to-school drive compliments the Ministry of Education and its various departments, bridging the educational gap in hinterland regions and ensuring that every child in Guyana has the tools they need to succeed.

EdYou FM is the official radio station of the Ministry of Education, dedicated to promoting education and supporting students, teachers, and communities across Guyana.
