Written by on June 28, 2024

On June 28, 2024, the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD) auditorium buzzed with anticipation as EdYou FM hosted a highly anticipated men’s mental health talk. Ms. Shanette Dey, a dedicated psychologist from the Ministry of Health’s Mental Health Unit, conducted this vital session.

Ms. Dey led the attendees through a wholesome and insightful discourse, emphasising the importance of acknowledging and celebrating even the most minor victories in life. During her presentation, she encouraged each man to share a personal story of overcoming challenges.

This exercise aimed to foster a sense of community and support mechanism among the participants, allowing them to recognise their achievements and inspire one another.

The men responded by communicating openly and honestly in a mutually respectful environment. They expressed the hope that these sessions would happen regularly, emphasising the importance of men having a supportive community to share their experiences and work together to improve mental health.

The session was not just a moment of shared stories but a step towards building a stronger, more connected community among the men of the Ministry of Education.
