GuyExpo Through the Eyes of Young People: Why It Matters and Opportunities for Tourism
Written by EDYOU FM Staff on November 17, 2025
For decades, GuyExpo has been a key platform for showcasing Guyana’s economic potential. It brings together manufacturers, service providers, investors, and innovators to highlight business growth, tourism opportunities, creativity, and the nation’s rich culture. GuyExpo is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, the exposition blends business, entertainment, and communities. It’s one of the many spaces where Guyana’s talent truly comes alive.
A Brief History
Launched in 1995, GuyExpo became one of the longest-running trade exhibitions in the Caribbean and was held annually from 2004 to 2016. After a brief hiatus, it returned in 2023 under the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce. This year’s theme, “Transformation Through Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” encouraged both local and regional businesses to network, collaborate, and engage with the public through creativity and innovation.
What it offers
For young Guyanese, the expo is more than just a showcase for the business market. It offers a window into emerging careers, technological advancements, and the expansion of the tourism landscape. Throughout the four-day exhibition, youths explored technology showcases, arts and craft displays, product demonstrations, and interactive booths hands-on experiences that sparked curiosity and inspired ideas for entrepreneurship, career development, and personal growth.
The exhibition also highlighted opportunities within cultural preservation, community-based tourism, hospitality, and the creative sector. Many booths created memorable, interactive experiences where visitors could play, learn, and engage directly with their products and services.
Spotlight on key Exhibits
At the Ministry of Education’s booth, visitors were introduced to the newly launched Anti-Violence and Anti-Bullying Reporting System, a digital tool designed to help students report incidents safely, quickly, and anonymously. Staff offered demonstrations of how the system works, while the National Literacy Department engaged schoolchildren with fun literacy games and educational materials to support reading and learning.

The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning also delivered an educational experience. Through its short film Important Matters and on-site guidance from various departments including Occupational Safety and Health, the Board of Industrial Training, the Cooperative Department, and the Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency the booth helped visitors understand labour services, workplace safety, training opportunities, and employment support.

Why It Matters
Through the eyes of young people, GuyExpo becomes more than a marketplace; it becomes a space where ideas meet opportunity. The exposure, inspiration, and lessons gained remind us why events like GuyExpo are essential. They help prepare the next generation for a rapidly growing Guyana by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development, and pride in local creativity.
As GuyExpo 2025 came to a close, it left a lasting impression on its visitors. Beyond showcasing products and services, the event fulfilled its purpose: strengthening local industries, encouraging creativity, fostering youth engagement, and celebrating Guyanese excellence.
With anticipation already building for next year’s expo, visitors look forward to even more interactive booths, greater youth participation, expanded cultural showcases, and new opportunities for learning and collaboration.
