Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Exposition 2026 is underway at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre in Georgetown, bringing together more than 59 schools and organisations to showcase the skills, creativity and entrepreneurial potential being developed across Guyana.
Held under the theme “From Classroom to Career: TVET in Action,” the three-day exposition provides students and other exhibitors with an opportunity to display their practical skills, innovations and products while highlighting the role of TVET in preparing young people for the world of work.
The exposition also features the Ministry of Education’s “Jane of All Trades” initiative, which encourages girls and women to explore opportunities and pursue programmes in Technical, Vocational Education and Training.
Speaking with students from The Bishop’s High School TVET class, Serena Paul told the Distance Education Unit that participating in the programme has already allowed students in her year group to create a market for some of the products they produce.
TVET plays an important role in equipping students with the skills, competencies and attitudes needed to compete in the national, regional and global workforce. Through practical training, students are exposed to tools, technologies, principles and practices that help them develop skills relevant to the demands of the current and future job market.
Minister of Education, the Honourable Sonia Parag, officially declared the exposition open and expressed delight at the turnout of students, educators, practitioners and other stakeholders gathered to celebrate the creativity, technical competence and entrepreneurial potential being developed across Guyana.
Minister Parag also noted that the exposition is one of the Ministry’s key activities for September, which is observed as Education Month under the theme “From Classrooms to Community: Education Transforms Lives.”
The exposition features schools from across the country, including Berbice High School, The Bishop’s High School and Queen’s College, which are showcasing a range of agro-processing and other value-added products.
Other exhibitors include the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), the Art Williams & Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School and, for the first time, GuyDrone.
The TVET Exposition runs from September 15–17, offering visitors an opportunity to see firsthand how classroom learning is being transformed into practical skills, products, innovation and career pathways.
