EdYou FM’s Annual Christmas Drive heads to Kaikan

As the Ministry of Education’s radio station, EdYou FM’s main objective is to ensure that the children of Guyana, particularly those living in hinterland communities, have equitable access to education. In addition to terrestrial radio, the station is now accessible online via its website and its mobile app, EdPal.
Apart from providing wholesome education and entertainment for the family, EdYou FM further supports its target communities through various charitable initiatives. Over the last 2 years, the station has distributed radios to several schools across the country, donated equipment and school supplies, and conducted workshops for teachers.

In December 2023, the radio station led a toy drive to spread Christmas cheer to more than 150 children in Kato, Region 8. Back in 2022, EdYou FM became the first radio station to reach Kato. So, to celebrate one year of distance education via radio, the community was selected to benefit from the inaugural Christmas toy drive. (See Kato: https://edyou.fm/qtvideo/welcome-to-kato/)

This year’s chosen community is Kaikan in Region 7. Kaikan is a bordering community along the Wenamu River – part of the Essequibo River Basin which forms a portion of the international boundary between Venezuela and Guyana. As with Kato, EdYouFM is the first radio station to broadcast in this remote community.
The management of EdYou FM welcomes your participation in this endeavour to spread the joy of Christmas to the children of Kaikan. Deliver your toys to the EdYou FM office located at Lot 3 Battery Road, Kingston, Georgetown, using the entrance at Fort Street, opposite the Transport and Harbours Department. We will be receiving your donations from Monday 21st October, 2024 to Monday 16th December, 2024, between 9:00AM and 4:30PM.
